Emergency room nurse practitioners are typically responsible for providing emergency care for patients in trauma situations. They are not only skilled in providing basic patient care but they are also trained in assessing and dealing with patients with life-threatening emergencies.
Some of the common duties and responsibilities of emergency room nurse practitioners include the following:
- give proper diagnosis and on the spot treatment to ER patients
- provide quick assessments while ensuring that immediate and appropriate medical care will be given to the patient
- handle life-threatening situations effectively
- properly address the varying health care needs of the patients who enter the ER
- give priority to patients who require immediate care especially those with very serious medical conditions
In general, emergency room nurse professionals must know how to effectively handle patients in crisis situations and must provide accurate stabilizing care in order to save lives.
